As energy expenses continue to climb, ICF poured wall construction is becoming one of the most popular products in the industry.  Winesburg Builders has extensive experience with the product both residentially and commercially and has become one of the preferred contractors in the ICF poured wall industry.

What are ICFs?

At their most basic level, ICFs serve as a forming system for poured concrete walls. The ICFs remain in place and become part of the wall structure. ICF forms are made of expanded polystyrene (EPS), a material similar to that in Styrofoam ice chests you can buy at the grocery store. The forms consist of two panels of EPS held together by plastic ties which are embedded into the foam to hold the form together.  The forms not only provide the forms that hold in the concrete, they also act as your wall insulation and the plastic ties become the wall studding and in turn the product does not require any furring as other masonry and concrete walls would.

Design flexibility:

Because of the incredible strength of ICF concrete walls, architectural features including arches, long spans, curved walls, and large open areas-are easily accomplished. The superior strength of reinforced concrete means ICF walls provide safety, security, design flexibility and once completed, require no special maintenance.

ICF constructions creates buildings that are energy efficient, environmentally friendly, sustainable, quiet, and comfortable. Our goal is to give you a building envelope that gives superior results when compared to conventional building methods, and an envelope that resists harmful mold, dust and allergens, along with powerful wind, storm and fire damage. The thick concrete core of insulated concrete forms keeps air where it should be, meaning interior temperatures stay steady throughout the year, reducing heating and cooling costs. Produced from recycled materials, ICFs begin their life as an environmentally friendly product designed to make buildings more energy efficient. Unused portions of the block can even be reused or recycled to make the lowest possible impact on natural resources. By keeping air and moisture out, insulated concrete forms lower the potential for allergens and mold meaning that buildings are safer and healthier to live, work and play in. Standing up to winds of up to 200 mph and fire for up to four hours, ICFs provide peace of mind for those inside.
